Please carefully read the instructions below before submitting the top five priorities in order of importance to your country.
Priority Setting Criteria
Question: What is the criteria for priority setting? Is the end goal to set an MRL for a particular pesticide on a particular crop?
Answer: Our mission is to develop new MRLs to facilitate harmonized trade. The first criteria is the most important, but the more of these criteria that can be met, the stronger the justification. In considering the nomination of an existing priority, or submitting a new priority, the key criteria are:
1. Is this an important crop-pest combination for which we do not have an effective control registered; is there a residue-trade issue; is there resistance to an existing product; or is a current product threatened with being cancelled?
2. Are there potential solution(s) that can effectively control the pest and would the registrant support the use?
3. Does the potential solution – crop combination already have a CODEX MRL, or would we be able to develop a new MRL? You can see existing CODEX MRLs by pesticide name here, and it lists the crops that have an MRL. https://www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/codex-texts/dbs/pestres/pesticides/en/
Priority Ranking Instructions
Review the Priority List for Ranking then select your top five priorities in order of importance to your country.
We will use unique IDs assigned to priorities in the ranking system. Please carefully review the list of priorities for ranking and take note of the unique IDs you want to rank.
When selecting IDs for ranking, please carefully note the target scientific name, climate zone and whether the conditions are field or greenhouse. There are several crop/pest combinations that have multiple IDs due to differing specific target scientific names.
You can check your rankings and those of other participants, by viewing the Priority Ranking worksheet. Click the link to the Priority List for Ranking below and select the Priority Ranking worksheet via the tab at the bottom of the screen. Please note, new submissions may take up to a minute to appear.
