The first Africa Regional Priority Setting Workshop will be a FREE online meeting organized by the Minor Use Foundation. The purpose of the inception workshop on July 27 is to explain the process and is essential for participation in the priority workshop on November 2, 2022. Please see timeline below.
We encourage participation by plant pathologists, entomologists, specialty crop growers, grower groups, governments, universities, non-profit and for-profit organizations and those familiar with pest management problems in Africa. The overall goal is to develop a list of top pest management priorities for the region and will be a great opportunity to develop a network of stakeholders with common goals. There is no charge for registration or participating.
This will be a stakeholder-driven, collaborative process to identify specialty crop/pest combinations that are problematic for the region that do not have effective solutions or do not have CODEX MRLs. The Minor Use Foundation will act as the moderator and facilitator and the workshop participants will make decisions on the top priorities to progress in in the region.
Participants will go through a process of nominating known crop/pest combinations and submitting new priorities to develop a targeted list to further refine. Participants will then submit their top five priorities based on the targeted list. The Minor Use Foundation will facilitate the data collection process and integrate the inputs of participants for discussion during the workshop.
